The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized an industrial visit to the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC), Udupi, on 12 October 2026.
A total of 13 seventh-semester Mechanical Engineering students participated in the visit, coordinated by Dr. Bharath K. Bhat.
The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial practices by providing students with practical exposure to CNC machining, precision engineering, CAD/CAM technologies, tool and die manufacturing, and quality control processes.
During the visit, students gained valuable insights into modern manufacturing techniques, precision measurement, process planning, and the importance of industry-oriented technical skills. Interactions with GTTC faculty helped students understand the practical applications of engineering concepts in industrial production.
The visit also created awareness about career opportunities in manufacturing, tool engineering, and product development.
The initiative provided a valuable learning experience, strengthening students’ understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies and their industrial applications. The department also aims to explore future opportunities for **internships, student projects, and collaborative activities with GTTC, Udupi**, to further enhance practical learning and industry readiness.
